Why are you taking Hydrochlorothiazide?  It is prescribed for a variety of conditions.  Like vienna13 mentioned, sometimes medications just don't work after a period of time.  Perhaps the condition you have requires a stronger medication.  Hydrochlorothiazide is often the first prescribed when blood pressure is elevated, is that why you are taking it?

I wished to live without pills, and decided to try. I couldn’t, had to go back to them.
In my opinion we must know EVERITHING about the pills we are taking. Also we must have a doctor who we work with like partners. He/she can suggest not order. After all it is our body. :)
Do not take anything what is not absolutely necessary. Question it, if you take already 10 different pills.
Never forget: he/she works for you.
I am lucky having a  doctor, he is letting me to do things as I think is right, and we are glad if our opinion is in perfect match.
So for your question, we just have to accept the fact, we do need adjustment and sometimes even more pills, but we can /should/try drop them too, if they not a MUST anymore. If we found the right combination even if for a while working we have to take them, like them :) and believe in them :)

My Best!
