Hello,
I am a 29 year old female who went to the cardiologist a year ago because of a heart murmer since a young age. I had a echo dopplar study 2D and M mode and these were the conclusions.
1. Normal sized left ventricle with preserved left ventricular systolic function
2. Normal sized right ventricle with preserved right ventricular systolic function.
2. Mildly prolapsed mitral valve with trace mitral regurgitation
3. Trace tricuspid regurgitation
4. Normal left ventricular relaxation
5. Atria normal in size, no pericardial effusion and aortic valve opens normally
Now a year later my primary Dr did an EKG and sent me to another cardiologist becase of a slightly abnormal EKG result. This cardiologist did an echo, 24 holter monitor and stress test. His findings were that he did not see any prolapse and that I did not need any follow up. I am confused why one Dr said I had mitral valve prolapse and the next year another Dr stated he did not see it. Could you tell me if these findings are abnormal and whether they warrant any further cardic evaluation on a yearly basis.
Thank You
