getting scared

i am a 23 year old male and last year i was diagnosed with a bicuspid aortic valve. my doctor told me that it was a common thing and i shouldn't really worry too much. In the past year i did notice though that i would sometimes have chest pains and feelings of an irregular heart beat, usually at night and usually it occured if i had been drinking alcohol the night prior. recently though even without alcohol i have chest pain shortness of breath, and i sometime even have episodes where i wake up in the middle of the night and my upper arms are numb. i have gone to the emergency room once and gotten checked out but everything came out fine. i recently lost a friend due to a heart attack and it kinda on my mind a lot. what should i do?

Didn't want you to worry : )  The suggestion to visit the "valvereplacement" website does not mean I think you need a new valve.  It's just that there are a lot of people who are familiar with a bicuspid aortic valve.

Have you been examined by a cardiologist?  A cardio workup and the opportunity to discuss your concerns with a caring cardio might give you peace of mind.  Sometimes, it's the not knowing that makes us stressed.

Also, there are a lot of people at valvereplacement.com with experience with BAV.
