HELP

I was diagnosed with high blood pressure in June 2009,  My BP was 201/139 and I had headaches. I was sent to the ER for tests..EKG, lung x-ray, MRI of my head. They prescribed meds Metropol and I was released. I had an abnormal EKG and later discovered an EKG done in 2002 was identical so they told me it was my blueprint. All the other tests were normal. My PCP removed the metropol and put me on benicar 20mg. A couple of weeks later I went to see a cardio doc for chest pain and dizziness. He admitted me overnight and They did a stress test with an echo, they also did 3 blood tests to check to see if i had a heart attack. Everything was fine and he switched me to Coreg. The chest pains got worse and my PCP switched me from the Coreg to Benicar 40mg since my BP was not low enough and my chest pains increased on the Coreg. A new cardiologist did a nuclear stress test and a calcium score test and i wore an event monitor for 21 days.and it came out negative for any problems. I have also had a renal ultrasound, an abdominal ultrasound, cartoid artery ultrasound, x-ray of back and neck and all were fine. I just got back from a pulmonolgist since I thought maybe it was lung related because I smoke. He did a chest x-ray and I took a breath test.. again no problems. I am now at a loss. I am 42, lightheaded with chest pain and no one seems to know what is going on. I have GERD with no symtoms and they tossed around a condochondritis diagnosis and anxiety diagnosis but I am not convinced that is whats wrong. Any ideas what I should do next.. I refuse to live this way!

Do you know if they did blood work on your kidneys?  This is what you need.  I'm on BP medication and have been on various ones for about 15-20 years now, and have never experienced any symptoms like you describe, nor has anybody I know.  Good luck on this!

I have read alot about the adrenal glands and thought maybe I would try that route. I had an ultrasound of the kidneys and all was fine. I am also thinking maybe it could be the Benicar causing problems since I have been on that for the most part this entire time. I didn't have chest pains back in June when all of this started. I have read about a new BP med with less side effects but my doc, who insists he will change my meds if that is what I want, still manages to say its not the BP med in his next breath...

Have they completely ruled out any kidney problems?  If your kidneys aren't functioning properly, it will raise your BP, which in turn will create other problems.  But I can see why you are so frustrated!!!!  Anxiety can cause a lot of problems, and make you feel like you're having a heart attack.  Sounds like the Coreg could be a clue for it make make things worse.  It doesn't appear to be heart related, but something's making you feel this way. That's extremely high BP, I hope they have gotten that under control. I know I've been no help, hopefully others will do better.
