Blood pressure monitors

I sometimes check my BP at the grocery on one of those machines. Does anyone know how accurate these are? I have my own arm cuff and am always 15-20 points lower at home.

I have to agree with erijon.. on this one!  even in drug stores the b.p monitors are always
off or read wrong  (way off )  I dont trust them at all.  even at home I have have my b.p monitor adjusted time to time to keep in working right . as its been off before !

yep erijon is 100% right on the money!

The BP monitors at the pharmacy and grocery store are notoriously inacurrate. I find the same when I use them, they are generally high. One thing to remember is that most of the time you are walking around shopping before you take your BP. Under normal conditions you would wait a few minutes after being active to take your BP at home, so this may be one of the reasons you are getting a higher reading.

Good Luck,

Jon
