Stopped Smoking - Slow pulse -low blood pressure

Hi!   I am a 55 years old female, and stopped smoking cold turkey 10 days ago.   I used to smoke about 15 cigarettes a day.  I am doing very well as far as cravings and wanting a cigarette.  No interest.

My concern is how tired I am.  I feel like I am taking sleeping pills all day long.  I have no energy and have to push myself to get things done during the day.  I feel completely drained.   I took my blood pressure a few times and it ranged between 90/50 and 110/68 with my pulse at 58 to 72.  The lower readings were when I felt the most tired.  When I was smoking my blood pressure was always around 120/70 with a pulse of 75-85.

Is this normal when you stop smoking, or is it something I should see the doctor about?

When I stopped smoking I thought I would feel better, not worse.   If this is from not smoking, how long does it last?  Is there anything I can do to raise the bp/ pulse when it drops, so I'm not so tired.
Any vitamins that help the body heal after quiting smoking?

Gail

Just a thought, maybe your body is lacking something like Iron, folic acid or vitamin b12. Smoking may have hid this problem from you so I would get some blood tests done. If you are lacking iron you will feel all the symptoms you describe.

yes smoking raises blood pressure, but it does so because it poisons the body.
I have to say I suffered no such problems when I gave up smoking, in fact I experienced the complete opposite. When I smoked I had no energy and didn't want to do anything. After just 24 hours of quitting, I noticed how much easier my breathing was and I had a lot more energy.

Smoking constricts the blood vessels and raises your blood pressure. So quitting smoking would have the effect of lowering your blood pressure. your body is still going through the process of nicotine withdrawal. Good for you quitting! I'm trying, but slipped up after 3 weeks. Have to start again.  Keep up the good work. If you still feel bad in another week, it wouldn't hurt to check with your doctor just to ease your mind.
