I'm afraid i have pots.

For 2 weeks i have been getting really lightheaded from just talking, singing, yawning, getting up, and minimal excerise. along with the dizzyness i have shortness of breath and a fast heart rate. i went to a cardio doc and said i need to eat more and drink more. plus take vitamin d and potassium. I had a bad alchol problem and i quit 2 months ago. plus i'm 28 male that has been overweight for 15 years. any advice would be nice. Thanks

Anxiety is a natural process after giving up anything addictive. Ask any ex-smoker for example. You are doing great and things will settle down. Long term you will only see improvements if you keep being strong minded.

Hi, thank you for all of your advice. I had a alcohol problem for about 3 years, then got 9 months sober. Then relapsed for about 4 months. So i don't know if the damage is that bad. But i am worried i damaged my autonomic nerves causing these symptoms. I do have an anxiety disorder, but never have felt this tired, lightheaded, out of breath, fast heart rate before. Plus it happens after doing the most smallest things. When i type my symptoms pots and dysautonomia disorders pop up. Its only been 2 weeks since i've been experiencing these symptoms. But its not getting better and worried this won't and will be stuck with on of these horrible problems. My potassium was a little low. And he just told me to take 2000 mg of vitamin d. Ekg was normal. Blood pressure 140/90 i think. Anyways i hope it does get better because my was tough before this happened. Thanks again for your responses!

Just to add. As I said, I really commend you and hope you have the strength to continue this. Go for a slow 30min walk every day and stop often if you have to. Watch your diet too, lots of fruit and veg will get your body back on track much quicker. It really is good that you want to rectify your life and get healthy again, and it will happen, it just takes time. It's unfortunately not just like flipping a switch, but your body will adjust. After about 3 months, the Doctors will be able to take the readings more seriously from blood tests etc. At the moment everything will be screwed up because of imbalances due to the lack of the alcohol poison. After 6 months, my friend (who drank bottles of vodka for years every day) had huge differences. His pancreas started to work properly, his Liver and kidneys gave normal levels and his heart pumped stronger. His blood pressure went to normal. The only thing he struggled with was his brain response for a couple more months. He would talk slowly and be half in a dream world. This got worse after a couple of months of drying out. However, it did all return to normal. When I see him now and chat, I can't believe he had such bad problems.

vitamin D is the sunshine vitamin, we can synthesise this vitamin by sitting in the sun for a short while. Potassium is best extracted from natural foods because the pill form is a nightmare for the body. It actually only absorbs a small amount from the pill. Just eat some bananas, packed with Potassium. I assume you had blood tests to verify you lack these properties?
If you had a BAD alcohol problem 2 months ago, do you think you are possibly expecting small miracles too soon? I can't commend you enough on giving up, I am sure it really hard. I've got a friend who gave up a year ago and he struggled. He felt really ill for a few months, probably about 6, but then he started to feel so much better. He had to walk slowly everywhere and often stop to hold on to something to gain his bearings. Alcohol does many things in the body long term, it's a poison. It affects the Liver/kidneys/heart/brain and it takes time for your body to recover. Yes the alcohol will be out of the system, but damage takes time and your body has to recalibrate itself like a fine tuned machine. There's a lot for it to do. Are you on any medication to help with your rehab? many of those can cause light headedness.
