LVEF 45

Hi! I'm 23 years old and i was having mild chest pains which then after suggestions from doctors resulted in a lot of tests. I have a small hiatal hernia. I also had an echo cardiogram and a coronary angiography(CT). Test results showed 40-45 LVEF and 40% blockage of LCX. Cholestrol was a little above the optimal level, the bad cholestrol was little less. When i had that test, i wasn't exercising as i was preparing for an exam. Now i'm working out which is fine, i don't get tired easy.. can run lengths easily. But, it scares me about my heart. Should i be worried about having a failure or an attack at such an age? My family does have a history of having heart attacks. I eat outside food once or twice a week, nothing fried. I sometimes feel full of breath, unable to take in full breath. Other than that and some pain in chest at times, i'm all fine and feel fit. But the results have scared me and i am constantly worried that what if i get an attack. My cardiologist gave me carca 10 mg and aspirin. i quit taking medicines a while ago. Please help.

Why did you stop your prescribed medication?
The carca is to lower your blood pressure. If your doctor prescribed it, your must have an elevated blood pressure. This can harm you in the long run. It is important to keep your bp in the recommended range.

40% blockage will not give you problems now, but it may be an indication to keep your bp and cholesterol well controlled to avoid future problems.

I think there is no reason to think that you will get a heart attack. The best advice I can give you is to follow the recommendations of your cardiologist and not change your medication regime without consulting him/her.

Your doctor is the best person to ask what exercise you should/can do- they should be giving you some guidance on diet and how to monitor yourself for warning signs.  Have they given you any guidance on what to look out for?
