Left arm pain finding it hard to breathe

My husband is 28 yrs old.He is 5'10'' and weighs 105 pounds. Doctor says he is overweight. One night after eating chapati or wheat bread with potatoes & garlic/onion cooked in veg. oil, he felt a slight pain in the left arm finding it hard to breathe. We went to the hospital, took his blood pressure and found out that it was only gas an that he needs to just drink warm water to reduce the pain. 3 days after, again he felt the same pain, this time we went to test ECG.doc says nothing is wrong with his heart. He wakes up in early dawn feeling a bit out of breath and drinks water only.

What exactly is happening? Is something wong with his heart? Could it be associated with his lungs? PLEASE HELP!i am not getting a satisfactory answer

Ah, I forgot about kilos. That would put him around 231 lbs which is a bit ucomfortable for someone 5'10".

Maybe she meant 105 kilos and not pounds?  Maybe he is quite overweight and wakes up feeling out of breath due to sleep apnea?  (I know I do blame a lot on sleep apnea but it is waaay underdiagnosed).  I do agree with Ireneo that he may have reflux.  It is very common and there are a number of meds out there that can take care of it.  You can also have severe reflux and not have any burning or acid feeling.  It shouldn't be ignored.

Perhaps it's a typo but a person that's 5'10" and weighs 105 lbs is not overweight. I'm 5'5" and used to weigh 110 lbs and I was considered a skinny little thing.

Your husband may be developing gastric reflux. Certain foods will trigger an upset in the stomach, certain positions (especially lying down in bed) will trigger it. The acid in the stomach will back up into the esophagus and burn. That comes across as burning or chest pain and difficulty breathing. Long term GERD can damage the esophagus. My husband has it and had to go on medication (other than OTC antacids) to heal his esophagus. He never eats anything after 4 pm and there are many foods he avoids now. And if a person is overweight, that can contribute to the problem.

Perhaps he should check with his doctor about this possibility.
