MVP Metoprolol dentist and antibiotic?

When on a beta blocker I read that care has to be taken when going to the dentist. In particular that a person with MVP is mor susceptible to a bacteria infection after going to the dentist. And that they may need to take an antibiotic.. Is this true? I am having a filling and I have Mital Valve Prolapse

Hi, according to the new guidelines, prophylactic antibiotics to prevent endocarditis, prior to dental therapy are no longer recommended for individuals with mitral valve prolapse, rheumatic heart disease and bicuspid valve disease. So, you may not need antibiotics. But, please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Regards.
