Increasing fiber is equally as important as the fluid. There are tasty things on the market that might help. My personal favorites are Plum Smart (a tangy juice that's way better than syrupy old prune juice), Shredded Wheat cereal (rather bland but effective) and my all time favorite now is Fiber One with Honey Clusters cereal. That one does have some sodium in it but a small bowl a day and things run smoothly. The cereal is lightly sweetened and seems to have a mild maple flavor to me.
Of course there are the healthy foods too like fruits and veggies. Get your fiber and fluid at the same time.
Hello thank you for your response, I am not diabetic I have a stroke at 33 and was on cumiden for a year. and my blood levels are safer on the thin side that was the dose my cardioligist put me on after taking me off the cumiden. I was on a water pill during that time as well and had lots of problems with my kidneys not sure just my blood tests would show some thing, I am not a doctor and it has been over 6yrs. since all that. but he took me off it and I have been doing really good, just in the past two weeks I've been dealing with this constipation thing. I will drown in water today and keep my fingers crossed thanks again.
Liquids are the best for constipation. Lots and lots of liquids. Corn syrup is also a good one, but not sure if you dare take that with your cardiomyopathy. Are you on a water pill? You may want to ask your doctor and make sure that you are not in need of one. If the doctor does put you on a water pill ask if it is the kind that you need to take potassium also. Aspirin dose seems high. Is there a reason why the dose is not the usual of 81mg? Need to protect your stomach and I am wondering if 243mg daily would cause stomach irritation. You have diabetes also? Coreg is the best medication for heart problems. I do not see why the enema would cause any harm, but you can check with your hospital pharmacy or your doctor just in case.
