New Cholesterol Medication

I have been on Vytorin for a few years and my insurance company will not pay for it anymore.
My doctor has switched me to Simvastatin (40mg) daily. My question is has anyone else made the switch and have they noticed any side-effects?

Vytorin is a combination of Simvastatin and Zetia so you are taking the same thing without the Zetia so you should not see any changes in how your body reacts.

Thank you, I'm nervous about making a switch.I have had skin problems in the past from medication side-effects.
Can cholesterol lowering meds, such as Vytorin be stopped immediately, or should you gradually stop it?
Thank you very much!

I take Simvastatin with no side effects, and have for several years, and so does my husband, also no problems.  It's done an excellent job of lowering both our cholesterols.
