Hello:
My dad has Peracarditis, which is an inflammation of the pericardium (sac) which encloses the heart. This causes him to have shortness of breath because his heart doesn't beat normally because of the peracarditis. The doctors have been giving him colchisine, which is an antibiotic used to reduce the inflammation. However, the doctor told him that the colchisine does not seem to be working and that he was trying to avoid any more surgery (he had a pericardial window done), which worked temporarily. All his other vitals are good such as blood pressure, oxygen, etc.
What other non-surgery methods can be used to reduce this inflammation? What other antibiotics can be taken?
