A little over a month ago, my TEE & ECHO's both showed "severe pulmonary hypertension".  It measured 88mmHg!  After they adjusted my meds, gave me more Lasix (40 mg twice daily) the pressure began to come down.  Right now it is at about 38mmHg.  I still have a "severely enlarged left atrium" due to the fact that my artificial Mitral Valve is not working at full speed.  I've had OHS 3 times & may be facing a 4th in the future.

Take care & most important of all, don't fret!  If you are feeling okay, thank God & go on with your life!  Good luck!

yeah, i gotta wait till my doctor gets back from vacation.

but anyway, what do they mean by "mean" pressure? supposedly theres a difference here.  that normal 'mean' pulmonary artery pressure is between 10 and 20 (25) mmHg and normal "systolic" pulmonary artery pressure is between 20 and 30 9and even up to 35) mmHg.
so whats the "mean" pressure and hows it different from "systolic"? im confused.

i dont know. ive read several things on the net here. some say that the normal systolic pressure is between 14 and 25. and some say 14-30.

no, i haven't had a cath done. im only 25 and been to two cardiologists already about this. and also seen a pulmonologist. but, everything was okay with that. but again, if the PAH is mild/moderate, half of those tests can turn out completely normal.

6 months ago  had another echo at another facility and they just said "no evidence of pulmonary hypertension"... but didnt include the measurement. and everything else was the same on the report as now.

most people have trace and it is considered normal.........PAP via echos are an estimate based on the tricuspid readings, and must correlate with the size of the chambers.   Are they normal? The only accurate test would be a right heart cath..........have you had one?  Ask your doctor if he can arrange one, for your peace of mind.

Well looking that up about PAH the normal pressure in the Pulmonary Artery should be 14mm Hg but a person with PAH has a pressure of 25mm hg when resting but you can ask your doctor about that my lung doctor told me I had mild PAH my pressure is 30mm Hg I also have Mild Tricuspid Regurgation.
