What does bigeminy feel like? I have had a sensation of a bubbling in my chest, like a palpitation that keeps on going on and on. Is this what bigeminy feels like? Or does it just feel like a palp and then nothing and then another palp? I know this is a weird question but I have always wondered what that horrid bubbling feeling was and it's never been captured on a monitor.
Bigeminy simply feels like a funky odd beat, every other beat with a normal beat in between.
We all probably can describe what we feel a bit differently...
I guess I could describe the odd beats as a dropping feeling or rolling around feeling or perhaps a flip-flop.
But if you've ever felt a skipped beat, then it's similar to that, just every other beat for a period of time.
Just wanted to add.. i had bigeminy straight for a week after my ablation and i survived, i was, infact unscaved.... If a doctor where to explain to you exactly why it wont progress into a harmful arrhythmia, you probably wouldnt understand a word, it gets so technical.. I think we've all been there.. but basically what it comes down to, is bigeminy is just pvc's or pac's at a regular interval. If you do not have the nessecary electrical abnormalities to digress into an arrhythmia, theres no reason these palps will make you, reguardless of the fact that they are different.. They are still just palps :)
Thanks. I had a normal echo and thalium stress test. My EKG's are also normal, just some PAC's and Unifocal PVC's on Halter.
I suppose the electrical abnormalities would show up on tests such as those if someone had them?
Were you able to do your normal activities during the week you were in bigeminy? Did you panic at any point?
I've noticed that if I become very anxious or panic during bigeminy, it obviously makes my heart pound harder and makes it much clearer that what I'm feeling is skipped beats... I get a little concerned that the likely rise in Blood Pressure makes it more dangerous.
I know the circuit your referring to, if you don't have it, is supposed to rule out the possibility of going into Vfib. However, I wasn't sure about it possibly turning into couplets or Salvo's - back to back PVC's without the normal beat in between?
I'm not sure if that is a condition only likely to occur with heart disease?
Bigeminy isn't any more significant than individual pvcs. I was in bigeminy all the time and it was sort of "normal" for me. On one holter, I had 2500 couplets, some triplets, runs...still not a problem. After 25 years of arrythmias, they still had to induce VT (in the EP lab). Despite tons of ectopics, I never went into VT on my own.
If you doctor says you're fine, you need to believe him/her. If you feel a second opinion would help, you might try that. Be careful what you read on the internet -- it'll scare the wits outta ya.
Try to relax : )
Bigeminy for me feels like this:
thumpthump THUD, normal beat, normal beat, thumpthump THUD...repeat. It's just a PAC every second beat.
