Get a second opinion on the "repair" (maybe the surgeon will feel differently and think the valve is repairable...worth a shot).

Hi Smiley, there has been excellent reports regarding the Ross procedures. The aortic valve is by-passed and the aortic valve replaces the mitral valve. The advantage over a mechanical replacement is no need for the life long use of medication. And bio valves have a limited life span (approx. 10 years). At your young age, that may not be a good option and the Ross procedure requires special operational skills that may not be available. The mechanical may be the only other option. Good luck!
