Worried about upcoming dubutamine stress test

I'm a 55 yo female scheduled for a dubutamine stress test next week and I'm pretty scared. I had an adeosine stress test several years ago but they couldn't get my heart rate up during that test and that test was awful! I felt like I was going to pass out.  I don't know what will happen during this test. I have a problem with pvc's plus I'm a diabetic and moderately overweight and get SOB easily. Currently I take atenolol and varsarten for hypertension and the pvcs. I am terrified I will go into cardiac arrest or something will happen, my neighbor had this test and he told me his blood pressure went up to 250! (didn't say if systolic or what?) Yikes!

I had it done and while my heart raced and the pulse rate got up to about 145 my blood pressure did not raise all that much. I will not say it was easy but it is not at all as bad as I thought it was going to be. I guess the worse part is when they jam the untrssound wand into your ribs, that is uncomfortible.

Luckly, when you get any stress test done, you tend to have many trained nurses and a cardiologist with you and if they see anything unsafe or strange, they will end the test immediately.

Good Luck with your test! :)
