I have been taking 1000 mg Niaspan for six years to treat genetically high Lipoprotein(a). Now my physician wants to stop the Niaspan and begin a very small dose of Crestor. His reason is due to a recent study indicating Niaspan as a risk of causing bleeding and/or infection problems. I have already had one bad experience with another statin, Advicor, that resulted in me having permanent lymphedema in my ankles and legs. Now I am unsure about Niaspan. I would appreciate any comments on Niaspan please. Thanks.
