In Spain, we do not use Warfarine but Acenocoumarol (brand name Sintrom). You can discuss with your cardiologist to try it, to see if you do not have those side effects.

The shots that you took in your stomach were probably a drug called lovanox.  I have heard of people having to be on lovanox long term.  For instance, I know of someone who had to be on it throughout pregnancy, because she needed anticoagulation therapy, and warfarin has effects on the fetus.  I know those shots aren't fun, but I wonder if you could use them from time to time, to give your hands a break.

Wow, that is terrible.  The only thing I can suggest for right now is to try using the 10mg tablets, because they do not have dye in them.  If it is the dye in the tablets that is causing your problem, you can avoid the dye that way.  If you haven't already consulted a dermatologist and allergist, I would see both types of specialists.  In the future, there should be another drug on the market that can take the place of warfarin for mechanical heart valve patients, but not yet.  For your sake, I hope a warfarin substitute comes along soon.
