Usually when there is a drug eluding stent implant there is a plavix regimen for up to a year to help prevent a blood clot. I have been reading posts were plavix is given for a lifetime, etc. and I find no published medical study or literature that supports giving plavix other than what I have stated. Does your doctor provide a reason? You have an option to get an explanation from your doctor and/or get a second opinion...I know of no reason other than a monetary motive, but I have an open mind for relevant information.
