Incision irratation after CABG

My father(77) had CABG 3 months ago and he is recovering well. However he still has skin irritation and discomfort on the incision area -this pain is from the incision skin, not from the sternum bone inside- only when the incision area is touched by something (fingers or clothes). But the scar looks just fine and to be healed well and his doctor said everything is ok about the incision and it will take quite a while for the discomfort to go away completely. Usually how long does it take for the incision discomfort to go away?

It differs with different people. It is due to the nerves knitting back together and the area becomes very sensitive. Mine took around 6 months to stop. It is now over two years and I still have a very small numb area above the top of the scar, slightly to the right.
