How likely that this is caused by anti-seizure medication? Also, would traveling on a plane not be recommended? I've been told there is no risk for tamponade. My MD appt in a few days. Thanks
Pericardial effusion is the accumulation of excess fluid around the heart andit can be serious. For some insight there is a double layer (sac) that surropunds the heart called the pericardium. The space between the layers normally contains a very small amount of fluid.
When the volume of fluid exceeds the normal level the pericardial effusion puts pressure on the heart, causing poor heart function. Small anterior is the location on the heart were there is some effusion.
