possible heart attack

I am a 47 year old female .  I am overall healthy. Weight is normal, blood pressure normal, Last blood test did not have high colesteral.  I have had 2 episodes over the last two weeks where I have experienced sudden pain between shoulder blades accompanied by pain shooting through to my right jaw.  Both times this occurred overnight around 5:am in the morning.  This lasted for approx 15 minutes or so.   Because I do not have high blood pressure or high colesteral, is this something I should be concerned about?  Or could it be indigestion?

I meant to add that I do not have any weight problem and am quite physical and exercise daily too.  So, yes, it was a shock to me indeed.

Heart attack symptoms are different for women and men, and not at all what you see in TV shows.  I thought I had indigestion with my first blockage, but I went to the ER because besides the burning ache I had in my chest I also felt like I had an elephant sitting on my chest.  If it hadn't been for that I would have continued to shrug it off as indigestion.  I had pain in my upper back between my shoulder blades with these chest pains, too.  See your doctor and have some cardiac testing done. If for no other reason, just to make sure.  Time is of the essence with your heart.  Take care, Ally

I don't have any personal experience with this or anything, but I don't think that sounds like indigestion. Any time I've had indigestion, it kind of burned in my esophagus region and a bit up into my throat. I think you might want to go to the doctor and ask about this- it could be a narrowed artery or something causing some sort of angina?

The symptoms you describe are typical for a heart attack in a woman. Woman will normally feel pain n the back rather the chest and mostly radiating to the jaw. The fact that it only lasted 15 mins is a good sign, but given the nature of your pain along with the timing, 4 am to 9 am is the most common time for a heart attack, I would be getting checked out.

Good luck,

Jon

The episodes you have experienced could be heart related.  It is difficult to associate the type of pain one feels and location that would absolutely indicate angina (pain due to inadequate blood supply to heart cells).  Sometimes there are no symptoms, but the pain you have stated could be heart related.

You should have an evaluation of your cardivascular system to rule out any serious heart problem.  There are treatment options available and timely therapy that sometimes can reverse a condition, stop progression, etc.

Thanks for sharing, and if you have any further questions or comments you welcome to respond.  Take care,

Ken
