My heart keeps me up. I have thyroid disease and it has been a 4 year battle advocating for myself with so many symptoms EVEN NODULES AND THEY WOULDN'T DIAGNOSE ME BECAUSE I'M IN "NORMAL OR SLIGHTLY HIGH RANGE"! KNOW YOUR BODY AND FOLLOW YOUR INSTINCTS
I just started experiencing this a few nights ago when I was trying to get to sleep, and it is freaking me out! I thought there was something seriously wrong with me! But I did some more research and found out that it most likely is, like what was stated above so many times, simply anxiety.
I went on this website that listed symptoms of anxiety and this was one of them. But another one was pacing back and forth, and I thought "Wow, I do this all the time!" I will literally just start pacing when I have nothing better to do. But I don't think about impending doom, or everything I have to do. I just literally pace and imagine something. I have a very vivid imagination, and I just start thinking of a story in my head. Or a hypothetical conversation, or something. I have been doing this as long as I can remember, and sometimes it helps me get to sleep as well.
That would be my advice to you: Think about anything other than anxiety/things that make you anxious, and eventually these feelings will subside. A good distraction is also helpful. If I'm engaged I never feel these pulses because I'm not thinking about them. It can be as simple as an engaging conversation, or something else, like playing video games.
I am now convinced that I have a mild anxiety disorder, and that my hyper-active imagination may have been me as a small child trying to counter it, and for the most part it has worked! Lastly I would say that if you're sure it is anxiety, don't go on medication for it. Everyone is different, but I know I'm not going to. So much of me has resulted from these small things that I never even knew what they were... I never thought these pulses would be the key to finding an explanation for so much of my behavior! And I can truly say that I like who I am, and I don't want to risk medication changing my personality. I'll put up with these pulses if I have to ;)
Don't worry, most of the times these feelings have no real physical cause. As someone else said: it's all in our head. You'd be surprised to know how many illnesses our mind can make up :)
I've been suffering from heart palpitations for quite a while now. At times, I can feel my heart pounding very fast, and I can feel pulses in all parts of my body: neck, arms, legs, etc. Very annoying and distracting.
The first time this happened, I was so scared that I could not focus on what I was doing, I had to leave a meeting at work and rush to the hospital to be checked. It happened all of a sudden - never happened before. I started being anxious about my heart not working well. At the hospital they checked me and everything was fine: blood pressure okay (a bit high but okay), pulses okay, oxygenation okay. They told me to go home and relax. It happened again a couple of weeks later (much worse than the previous one) and again a couple of weeks ago. Each time that happened, I felt so unwell that I had to go to the hospital and be checked. A couple of ECGs: okay. Blood tests: perfect. It's just anxiety. Note that anxiety does not necessarily have to be triggered by a conscious reason. However, to rule out any possible physical reason, do all the tests prescribed by your doctor and ask to be checked by a cardiologist. Relax :)
I have had this problem as long as I can remember, but never mentioned it because I thought everyone could hear/feel their heartbeat throughout their entire body. Recently, it was so strong, I yelled, "My heartbeat is driving me crazy." My family looked at me like I was nuts. That is when I learned I am "weird", as they put it. Needless to say, I am so happy to know I am not alone.
The heart rate feel/ throbbing started in my mouth after general anesthesia for a dental implant. Then spread all over my body. Anybody else had general anesthesia and found the symptom started?
Possibly Breathing Pattern is off then it self corrects and pulse is less noticeable and heart rste slows .Carbon Dixoide is evalated when hypervent same as breathing off track.Such as Panic Disorder most of the symtoms before a attavk during is the bodys natural breathing pattern is interfered with by holding or faster or shallow breaths crested by our conscious self..One you learn to not focus and let our body do what it does alone symtoms subside.Also tingling numbness dizzyness blurred vision is all from the carbon dioxide levels in the blood is off ..I had panic Attacks from 1986 to 1994 everday every nite all day anywhere anytime There gone and My Heart goes out to Anyone Suffering with them I hope this helps.
