I have had two failed ablations so far for paroxysmal AFib. On this site I read of very many failed (repeated) ablations and am beginning to wonder what is the real proportion of successes as we don't hear of these often. I could progress to a third attempt and my husband, in permanent AFib for three years, is about to try his first. I am beginning to wonder if it is worth the ordeal.... How's about some encouragement and success stories? I suppose once a person is cured, they don't perhaps return here to tell us!
I would also like to know the effectiveness span for Flecainide. I see some have been on the drug for six years plus. I have been on it for two years now and it is effective for keeping me out of AFib. Following the latest ablation I was advised to cut the dose from 100 mg to 50 mg, but within a few days, the AFib returned, so for the time being have returned to 100 mg and am doing well again. How long can this drug be effective in warding off episodes?
