Another scary episode- PVC'S and Tachy?

Hi all! So I had another scary episode this morning with what I belived were PVC's and Tachycardia. A quick background. I am 32 years old and have suffered with occasional PVC's for almost 2 years. I have around 2-3 PVC's in a week but these do increase when I am near my period to maybe 1 a day for the 8-10 days prior to my period. I suffer from GERD and gastritis and that's basically all of my medical issues. I've had an echocardiogram, 24 hour holter, multiple EKG's, chest X-Ray and blood work done and everything comes back fine, just occasional benign PVC's.

I had my first episode on August 6th were I had 3 PVC's with 3-4 normal beats in between and then I experienced tachycardia. The tachycardia lasted 2 minutes and it started to subside. My heart rythm was stable during this episode and I didn't feel faint, dizzy, any pain etc. I just felt incredibly scared. I really thought I was gonna drop dead at any minute. This happened maybe 4 days before my period.

A couple of hours ago I experienced a similar episode. This time I was able to feel my pulse while the PVC's were happening but I couldn't feel them on my pulse just on my throat/chest. I felt my pulse was steady and normal. I just felt a stronger beat but no pause. It was like PVC, 5-6 normal beats, PVC, 5-6 normal beats, PVC, 5-6 normal beats, PVC, 5-6 normal beats and the my heart started to increase its rythm to about 130-140 bpm. I was in the kitchen eating a sandwich when these started so I sat down and took my pulse and started breathing through my nose and out my mouth till my rythm went back to normal. It went back to 80bpm in about 2 minutes. My rythm was always steady when this was happening and again no fainting, dizziness, pain, sweating or anything, just me feeling really scared. Again I am about 7 days from my period so don't know if this has to do with anything.

The Dr told me my heart is healthy but these episodes are so scary! Has anyone felt anything like this before? Any input is appreciated. Thank you!

Hey there, I'm sorry you're going through all of this and I am sure it is very scary. I personally haven't had this situation but I can empathize with you seeing as I have working on a Cardiac Floor, a Heart and Vascular floor and worked on an ambulance for the last 9 years, I have treated a lot of people with similar complaints and I've seen the crazy the crazy things the heart can do.
So... back to your problem, These PVC's that you speak of. When you went to the doctor did they do lab work? A lot of the times when patients have PVC/PAC's (Premature Ventricular Beats & Premature Atrial Beats) it can mean a few things. By drawing and looking at labs you can check electrolytes, potassium and magnesium levels as they are usually the culprit for causing frequent PVC/PAC's. You said that you have a couple to a few of these in a row and then your heart beat normally? These are called Couplets, which can lead to vtach. (I'm not trying to scare you I just want to share what I know) Vtach is considered a crisis alarm. Vtach is multiple PVC's in a row, when your heart rate is elevated. Sustained Vtach can lead to cardiac arrest if not treated. I'm not saying that's going to happen to you, but if you continue to have these couplets and runs of SVT that you speak of then it could eventually happen. Symptoms of SVT is shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, possibly blurred vision, chest pain ect. Sometimes, when peoples heart rates elevate and they have multiple PVC's and regular beats that go back and forth the persons heart rhythm is trying to convert to something else or they go into what we call a bigeminy or trigeminy. (Bigeminy-One PVC for every other ventricular beat, Trigeminy- One PVC for every third ventricular beat.
I know I rambled some but I was trying to make it make sense. Cardiac education is hard on a lot of seasoned health care providers too sometimes so don't feel bad.

The best advice I can give you is... You know your body better than anyone else... If something doesn't feel right then you need to go get checked out. Its better if its nothing then be at home and in bed and something be seriously wrong and not wake up in the morning:(
Best of Luck to you!!!!
