Coumadin and ablation

As a child I had some issues with free bleeding...was never diagnosed with any disease but now I am concerned. I am preparing to have an ablation to correct my afib and they want me on coumadin to prepare for it and then after. My baseline INR was .9. Not sure what I need to do. Should I take the coumadin and just let the clinic monitor the INR readings?

I was a child...never knew. my mother said I had von Wilhems but I was tested when I was an adult and it was negative so i really have no idea. I am scheduled to start the coumadin clinic next week and I guess I need to talk to them.

Thanks for the input. I am pretty sure all is well. I think I am just psyching myself out.

I think an INR of 1.0 is normal, so I'd say 0.9 is close enough to normal to say if the normal procedure for ablation is for the patient to have a lowered coagulation, then you need it.

All of us on coumadin (warfarin) have to have regular blood tests (one of the disadvantages) - for me once a month works.  I need to take for AFib, my use has nothing to do with the ablation, I share just as an example.

You state you had "free bleeding".. was you INR too high then, or is it another problem?
