Successful Ablation

Well I had my RF ablation yesterday, 3hrs procedure. The whole procedure went with-out a hitch. Really much easier then what I was expecting. I hate needles but hey this is the only way to get it done. They successfully induced the tachycardia and discovered it was indeed AVNRT on the left side atria. They then proceeded to ablate and one they completed, they forced shocks into the heart for 14mins to make sure that the heart doesn't go into tachycardia. Again it was perfect situation, no conduction was detected.

Now 24hrs after surgery I'm back home with sore inner groin area. I still have PACs, but should expect to see less and less of them over the following weeks up to 2 months. I have shortness of breath, also normal as the heart is currently healing itself and should be back to normal after a month and back to the gym I go. Get a hold of my new life.

Ablation is worth it, it's a new chance at life and I will keep you posted on the progression as I go through it. Should anything happen the doctors claim it'll be for a different reason and most likely not because of AVNRT.

Thank you all for the support and I shall offer mine in return.

Iane F.

Well I was put off every medication I once took ( Antenolol, Propafenone, Verapamil ). Only given 80mg of AAS ( Aspirin ) once a day for a month. No event monitor or anything like it. I guess the follow up is different depending the type of SVT. I'm happy to hear about so many successful ablations. I've been experiencing some very short duration ( 1 or 2sec ) of elevated heart rate but I'm quite sure that's the healing process since the heart is swollen and such. I'm sure Cindy707 could shine some light on this subject. I'm feeling overall very happy of not taking any form of medication after 13 years what a difference :)

Way to go Lane. Thank you for your great post. I am 3 weeks out from my ablation and I too am feeling very good about the results so far. Still "wrasslin" with the warfarin doseage and 1 more week with the event monitor. There's not much to report to the monitor just a few pvcs when I am stressed or tired. Gotta love those naps!  Ablation IS worth it. Hope you heal perfectly.

Hey Lane you rock it!!!  I am so glad you were one of the success cases here.....i love it when people post about their positive experiences to help others on the site.  Too many times people disappear when they get their lives back and to me that is so sad.  You are a true positive influence to others when you post after the fact.....i am sooooo happy for you....and from one past ablated pt. to another.....welcome back to the world of healthy hearts!!!

Hi Lane - that's great news ... you have been in my thoughts and prayers for the last couple of days - I just knew you would be okay.

Keep posting on your progress - I have just six more weeks to wait and hope for a similar outcome, and an end to my PSVT!
