Explain "Couplets", "Runs", etc

Under Ventricular Ectopy  my holter monitor report gives several data points. Below is part of it:    42 Couplets, 1 Runs, 3 Beats in Runs.  Can someone explain what is meant by  Couplets, Runs, and Beats in Runs?

Finetilthree, you got it!

YankeIB,

Ventricular ectopy refers to extra beats that originate from the ventricles (PVC's).

Like finetilthree said, a couplet is 2 PVC's in a row.  A run is when you have at least 3 extra beats in a row.  Your results indicate occurrences of a couple and one 3-beat run.

I will try my best to answer this correctly for you, but I might need a little extra input from others here on the board if I am incorrect.  Couplets are 2 PVCs in a row, 1 run means you had a run of 3 PVCs in a row.
