Food and Beta Blockers

Hi, so I have a question for the people in this forum that are taking beta blockers for tachycardia. Do you find that certain foods seem to either make your tachycardia worse for one reason or another.Maybe affecting the absorption of your beta blocker?
I'm on Atenolol and anytime I have shrimp, orange juice, or pretty much any food or drink really high in Vitamin C it immediately affects my heart rate. I've found articles that mention orange juice affecting the absorption of Atenolol, but none that mentioned Vitamin C, or shrimp. Does anyone else have any foods that affect them like this?

Here's a thread that I was the last one to comment on, seems I did at that time recall reading not to mix fruit juice with Beta Blocker.

The unnamed reference I had appears to say the juice reduces the effectiveness of BB and CCB meds.

I believe fruit juices are problems for many medications, including cholesterol limiting drugs, I recall grapefruit being specifically singled out.  For this reason I would never use a fruit juice to "wash down" my medications - I'd not even have juice for a couple of hours after taking medications.

My "tachy" is due to atrial fibrillation and I take both BB and CCB to lower my HR.  I have stopped drinking fruit juice all together.   I do eat berries and melons and may eat an orange or grapefruit later in the morning or afternoon, but never in the morning.

There must be some threads on this subject.  Have you done a search on your key words?

Hope you get some specific experience help.
