Frequent Pvc Question

many of you have read my previous posts..but i will give a background of whats been going on im a 21 m they found frequent pvcs on my halter monitor with short run of probable v.tachycardia ive had 2 stress tests,2 ecocardiograms, several ekgs, and full blood work done everything normal besides monitor.

i was put on atenolol im up to 50mg in the morning 100 at night with little change in what i feel..my symptoms are that i feel my heart pounding or pretty much all day so with the medicine it just feels lighter but i still feel it..i never actually felt extra beats.

so now we are at the point where im going to go for a consultation for ablation procedure.

well i feel the atenolol might be causing me side effects like tightness in chest and shortness of breath so im thinking about getting off the atenolol

is there anyway my condition can be complicated without meds?..the way my drs put it is that there just treating the symptoms there no underlining problem therefore theres no need for medicine in all cases only if it dirupts the persons life..well im at the point where i want to try to cope with it until i try the ablation and see how that goes so i want to know if with all the tests done should i be worried attempting to go off meds anyone else have frequent pvcs and not using any meds?

also anyone here have success with ablation for frequent pvcs? my cardiologist gave it a 70-75 percent chance of working

My doctor told me NEVER take sudaphed.  I have 14,000 - 16,000 PVC's per day.  I am off all stimulants. (which means no decongestants of any kind)  Cardiologist says cafine is very bad for me but sudaphed is 100 times worse.  I also had sinus and ear infections and since I couldn't take decongestants, I took an expectorant.  It helped break up the mucus so it would drain and the antibiotics took care of the infection.

Good luck!

ok i just got back from my trip..just an hour or so ago i noticed something different i felt a weird shaky like sensation in my chest so i started taking my pulse and now instead of feeling one extra beat when i take my pulse occasionally for the past 30 min or so its been 2-3 extra beats in a row.. then normal regular beats..what is this and should i be concerned..because of sinus infection im taking sudafed before the trip i was taking sudafed that you have to show id for and since being back i started taking the other one that you can get withotu showing id and now i have this could the weaker decongestant be causing this and what is this

Hi Iam oco,
Are you sure it says 6 Ventricular ectopics and 12 Supraventricular ectopics as 18 extra beats is not very many at all. That would usually be considered 'rare' extra beats.
My cardiologist only considers them frequent if there are more than 1% which would in your case be 878 extra beats. Your report says '<1%', which means less than 1%. In fact if the numbers are correct only about 0.02% of your total are extra beats.
