I am on lopressor and verapamil for the arrythmia and the verapamil also for high b/p.
Usually your medicines are continued as usual while on a holter, especially if symptoms are experienced even with your medication, your doctor will advise you accordingly.
Check with your doctor to find out if he/she would like you to temporarily stop any of your medication. Are you taking your current meds for an arrythmia? Or, for other heart related concerns? If you are taking the medications for something other than an arrythmia, it seems to me that it will be especially important to continue on your normal medication regime.
The best thing to do is to check with your doctor ahead of time. The doctor can let you know exactly why he has ordered the holter, and how the medication will, or will not, affect the results.
By all means........paleeze do not stop any of your meds, or even your normal routine..that is the purpose of the Holter...to catch the culprit in you daily activity.
well i take verapamil and hydrochlorathiazide and lopressor, 1 is a beta blocker. I'm wondering about caffeine as well, though its done in major moderation thats a concern
Beta blockers and anti-arrythmics could alter the test results. Is there a particular medicine you need to know about. Maybe someone on the board would be able to share their experience.
