Hi,
Thank you for your response.
The reason I started taking the herbs is because I was taking Zithromax for months (we didn't catch my Lyme early enough for just the standard dosage. By the time we caught it, it was systemic), and was just tired of taking continuous antibiotics and wanted to try a more natural route.
A friend of mine has Lyme and he did this herbal protocol that I am on, and he is completely cured, if there is such a thing. He hasn't had symptoms in 3 years. So, I decided to try it.
Hi,
Supplements are never really safe, they effect different people in different ways.
I have a Seizure Disorder, if I take Saint John's Wort, I'll be in trouble. Talking with my wife about your post, she reminded me that "Green Tea" cause both of us to experience a marked increase in PVCs.
My wife, a medical assistant, remarked that belladonna is "natural", yet a very deadly toxin. Many of the medications that are in use are refined from otherwise ordinary and natural plants.
She also doesn't understand why you would need the supplements, as the standard treatment for Lyme Disease is antibiotics.
If I were you, I would consult with my Doctor, perhaps seeking a second opinion from another Doctor. I would steer clear of the Supplements, as even Fish Oil, Potassium, Magnesium, and the like can contribute to arrhythmias in some people, especially when not done under the auspices of a Doctor.
Lastly, the introduction of supplements of any form can effect the way that other medications are absorbed and used by the body. Without definitive information about how these substances effect the body in the presence of each other in addition to other medications, you can be risking health consequences.
For instance, I take Phenytoin every day. Yet if I need to take an antibiotic I must avoid the mycin class. Mycins effect the metabolism of Phenytoin in the liver, slowing the elimination of it significantly. If I take a mycin class antibiotic, I may overdose on the amount of Phenytoin that I have been taking daily for years, simply based on this interaction. The Supplements you take may have similar effects on other supplements or medications.
Be well.
The one thing that sticks in my mind is that my EP told me nothing, is going to stop the PVC's. I find that less is more, sometimes I have to let them really get ripping then I take the medicine and it works better than trying to eliminate them. My med doesn't get rid of them it just takes the edge off. I don't know anything about herbs, but that alot of stuff your taking. Heal the lymes first. Your system needs less things to deal with not more.
A doctor in NYC prescribed the herbs. It definitely wasn't the absence of herbs that caused the PVC's to be eliminated because I misspoke in my original post. I was not on those particular herbs prior to taking Toprol, I was taking supplements only (Fish Oil, Potassium, Magnesuim).
It is my understanding that the herbs are very safe. I do want to bring them in to my Cardiologist to show him the ingredients, though.
These are the herbs I am taking, and their ingredients. Please let me know if you see anything that could cause any arrythmias.
Also, what are your thoughts on green tea? I've been trying to drink that the last couple days.

Who "prescribed" the chinese herbs? Have you discussed these herbs with your doctor? They could be counterproductive to the toprol and also a major SOURCE of your arhythmias. Sounds like you were "off" the herbs when you were on the first stages of toprol. Funny thing is, scientifically speaking, this screams variable confusion to me. You thought the toprol was eliminating the PVC's when in all actuality, it could have been the absence of the herbs that was eliminating the PVC's. Many "natural" herbs and teas cause serious reactions, so again I wonder who prescribed this treatment and are they aware of the effects?
