Cold - Flutters

Hello everyone...

I've been having heart flutters (4-5 each day) for the last couple of days and I'm wondering if my current cold which I've also had for the last couple of days could be causing it?

I generally have about one or two episodes of SVT a year (HR about 240) and have it reverted with a visit to ER and a shot of Adenosine.

I haven't had one for about 10 months now but do get these flutters once or twice a month....

I just wondering if anybody else has noticed an increase in flutters during a cold/flu?

Thanks for your help...

I was going to post a similar question. I started to get a sore throat on Sunday, but my PVC's started to get  bad on Saturday. Sunday and Monday night I couldn't sleep very well my heart was beating wildly. Tuesday morning my heart rate was 120(thats high for me) just at rest. Anyhow to answer your question, yes this cold has definately amped up my PVC's. I guess for a combination of reasons, lack of sleep inflamation and all the other fun stuff that goes with a cold. I haven't taken any decongestants, but I can usally take benadryl without a problem, and it helps with sleeping. I think I'll take some tonight. Feel better!!

I had more frequent flutters and actually had a cold set off my last rapid heart rate episode before my ablation.  The Dr thinks it could have been a cough that set it off (damn me for coughing with a cold!)  Anyway, since my ablation I no longer have the flutters and can take decongestants when I get the next cold.  Yahhh!

Any type of stress will cause in increase in them. For me, stress at work, being sick, an asthma flare, fatigue are all things that will increase my arrhythmias. Most likely you'll feel better when you feel better :-) Know what I mean? Take care.
