Inappropriate sinus tachycardia

Is anyone dealing with this condition. The cardyoligist has put me on Ivabradine to help me with this and so far so good. I'm feeling so much more at ease I breath easier, my heart rate barly gets over 120 so far even for activlties that have been known to get my heart rate as high as 170. It feels so good to feel this good and I hope I can feel even better over time.

Ivabradine was given to me as it has been proven that it works directly on the sinus node of the heart and nothing els. It the same med give to people with Stable Angina as a preventative messure to keep the heart rate low and hopfully prevent an angina attack from happening.

I may not have been at risk of dieing(never thought I was) but my life was seriously impacked by the tachycardia. I was always hot(colder now), always had red(slightly red but mostly normal now) skin people thought I was sun burnt, always breathless on exertions and at rest(it feels so easy to breath now at rest, still a little breathless after house work nothing compared to before the meds), the tachycardia it self is still changing with exertion but no where at bad and is subsiding as soon as I sit or stop for a fue mins and I have not come close to the max heart of 185 that I use to get for simple tasks like making my bed(I have not got over 130 yet). My bloodpresure was high when on my feet and walking all the time but so far it staying closer to my sitting BP,

I just seriously cant beleaive it sopose to be this easy to breath, it been a huge effort for me to breath most of my life but more so recently I always felt like I wearing one of thoes old fashioned corsits that were done up way to tight. I no longer feel like I'm having to concentrate to breath deep and same with walking/standing I feels so much easier. I have a not struggled to comprehend people or words so far only time will tell how good things get and stay. It has only been 2 days today will my 3rd day on the ivabradine.

Hi i read your post...it looks like you are doing so well and i hope you continue to move in that direction so obviously the choice the doc made was the correct one.  The lvabradine i am sure was given to you for some sort of chest pain or irregularity that you were feeling w. the tach and obviously the meds did its job in helping you to relax and decreasing your heart rate.  Its so funny that things that we think would not normally be given are exactly what the docs give us and it obviously worked  for you....you new med was probably given to you because you may have low blood pressure already and are not a candidate for beta blockers since they relax the heart and block out runs of adrenaline as well as lower you b/p.  So now you have to go by the mantra if it ain't broken don't fix it and the number one rule here is to listen to your doc because obviously he/she knows your body alot more than any of us do...congrats to you soon you'll be bungee jumping!!!!

From what I've read and understood Ivabradine is NOT a beta-blocker

Hi,

I'm not dx with IST (inappt. sinus tachycardia), though I have an anxiety disorder and some autonomic nerve system imbalances that produce symptoms similar to IST. In my case, the sinus tachycardia is found "appropriate", though it sure doesn't feel that way..

It's important to know (and good to know) that IST is NOT a cardiac disorder, it's not caused by electric disturbances and it's not really an arrhythmia. It's an imbalance in your nerve system, causing the heart to beat faster than it has to. It can also be caused by low blood pressure and compensating mechanisms.

I would say you're very lucky medications work. The problem with IST is that many individuals with this condition, also suffer from low blood pressure, and beta blockers cannot be used, or if they are used, you have to take several meds that increase heart contractility (ejection fraction) to compensate for lower heart rate. Because it's usually not caused by conditions in your heart, ablation or other arrhythmia therapy rarely works.

Good luck, happy your meds work as they should do, and I hope you get relief from your problems:)
