Hi. I know this post is old.. but I would like to know how you made out in delivery and if the pvcs ever stopped?
I am 33 weeks pregnant and am terrified to deliver because of the same issue. I get them on and off but they are SO bothersome I am afraid it will lead to an additional problem during labor and delivery!
Anything helps!
I have SVT and PVCs. I had an ablation following my pregnancy. During my pregnancy, my arrhythmias were worst during the second trimester. They improved during the third trimester. I had my cardiologist send my OB reccomendations of what to do during my labor and delivery. When I went into labor, all the medications were ready and waiting in case they needed anything. I was monitored during the entire labor. My cardiologist suggested that I have an epidural very early in my labor, which I did, so that the prolonged pain of labor didnt worsen my arrhythmias. This plan worked very well for me and I did not have any issues throughout the entire labor and delivery. I can say that I actually had fun during the labor. I was very suprised and grateful that things went so smoothly. The best advice I can offer is to be prepared, contact your cardiologist before your delivery and see if they have any advice and be sure that your OB is aware of your issue. Finally, be optimistic. I know it is easier said than done. I remember being exactly where you are. I hope I helped answer your questions, let me know if I can answer anything else you are concerned about.
The doctors just say "since you are not symptomatic (meaning I don't pass out, have chest pain, or shortness of breath) with your PVC's, we will do nothing" I get that, and I agree that my PVC's are much worse when my anxiety kicks in, but it's really hard to not freak out when your heart feels like it will explode! Did your heart problem get worse in the 3rd trimester, or not really?? Thanks so much!! It's nice to not feel alone!
Hello,
Congrats on your pregnancy. I have ectopic beats and junctional rhythm - the term PVC hasn't been used but from reading this forum and my understanding of my condition I think they are the same. I went through my whole pregnancy and the pushing bit, 1 hour, with no problems with my heart at all. I discovered my heart problems when I was pregnant and to be honest I think my biggest problem came from feeling anxious about it rather than any actual difficulties with my heart, once in labour though I didn't even give it a second thought. What does your doctor/consultant say or advise?
