My halter results and next step

Well I got my results from my 24 hr haulter. She said I had over 10, 000 episodes or however it should be worded of tachycardia and only 3 pvc's. I knew the pvcs. I felt them. The tach surprises me somewhat. I have had some tach issues yrs ago and associated it with the anxiety I was feeling because of my heart issues.  Once I got that anxiety under control the pvcs decreased. I guess as I have aged the tach has gotten worse. It isn't bad tach. Thank you God for that. It was only around 110-130. Usually not more than 110 but was sustained at 110 for much of the time. My sister has tach. Her resting heart rate all day everyday never dropped below 110 until she started taking propanolol. It has been successful for her. The card wants me to wear a 30 day haulter just because he wants to be sure he gets record of what I complain about most but didn't experience with the 24 hour monitor. Which I still feel sure is pvcs because they will hit suddenly. Last sometimes for a few hours and could happen 10 times in 5 mins. Or more. Or less. The fluttering, squeezing, quivering stuff.
So I will start the 30 day monitor in a few days and am so glad my card is willing to pursue this with me. Just getting cleat information and an understanding of what is happening will go miles for me in giving me comfort. Also allowing my anxiety to subside which I think will help. My anxiety is certainly keeping my heart fired up.
I can't wait for answers. I hope I get them.
Next thing is what beta blocker to take. My sis takes propanolol and has had no problems. My mother takes metropolol after two heart attacks and has nobproblems. We shall see.
I can not tell you all how much just being here has helped me. Several of you really take ur time to offer others words of comfort and support. When people have problems that are frightening they need to be related to, encouraged and supported. You guys rock and I thank you from the bottom of my jumpy little heart. I hope to pay it forward. God bless you all.

Sounds like anxiety is the problem here, which can cause both tachycardia and PVCs/PACs.

We often tend to get anxious about things that we can't control. We can't control our hearts. But if we take good care of our hearts, they will keep on beating for several decades :-)

PVCs and tachycardia (within normal limits) can not harm your heart and you can safely go back to not paying attention to your heart. Just let it be there, just like any other organ.

If you suffer anxiety, propranolol may be a better choice than metoprolol (in my opinion), I've tried both. Propranolol also have some effects to calm your anxiety (serotonin and noradrenalin effect), but metoprolol is better to control high blood pressure, if you suffer that.

I hope you will find the right beta blocker and get your anxiety treated :-)

We have had it checked Michelle. In fact my doctor routinely checks it from time to time. And always when I see him about my heart.
Thank you for the suggestion

I would assume you and your sister have had your thyroid levels checked?  Hyperthyroidism can cause an elevated heart rate.  Just think you should be checked for it if you haven't already to rule it out.

I'm glad to read ur post. I def have health related anxiety. I can have some odd thing and completely go bonkers about it. I am on an anxiety med right now and thankful for it. It has kept the panic attacks at bay.
I also like what u said about getting too focused. It does make it worse. I'm working on not letting it consume my thoughts. Tho its so hard to do.
I also don't have high bp so it seems propanalol may be my best option. I did google it and found it does help ease anxiety issues. Sounds taylor made for me.
Thank you for your response. I appreciate the support so much.
