Well at least I didnt know that when they did it!!!! I hope and pray I never get it again. Good luck to you as well
Adenocard has the occasional nasty side effect of sending you into V-Fib (which will kill you in less than 30 seconds). That's why they brought the crash cart into the room.
Not to freak you out or anything : )
I am guessing since my BP was a little high and my heart rate was high and my upper back was hurting they thought I was having a heart attack and thats why they gave it to me. I just know that as soon as they put it under my tongue and walked out, I got really dizzy and my heart started racing. They had me do some manuevers to lower my heart but it would instantly go back up so they gave me the adenocard. This sad thing is I worked at the hospital (in the billing dept) and the health field facinates me, so I knew what the crash cart was, so that freaked me out even more. Oh well, now I know what to do when my heart rate goes up like that, its from anxiety and I take a Xananx. I hope you dont have to have the adenocard again. Its real nasty!
Nitro is meant to rapidly decrease your blood pressure. It does this by dilating your blood vessels. Concordantly, your heart suddenly doesn't have to work as hard to pump blood.
Also, I'm no doctor, but 186bpm seems a bit slow to be giving you with Adenocard. Anything under 250bpm with me has been handled by pushed beta blockers. I've only gotten Adenocard once when my heart rate went north of 300bpm.
Oh My Goodness! The adenocard was the worst thing I have ever had. I never want that again. Not only was it bad, but they brought the crash cart in, like I didn't know what that was!!!! It was one of the scariest things in my life!!!! I know I asked if it could make my heart rate go up like that and never could get a straight answer out of anyone in the ER. I just figured if it was meant to break up clots and there wasnt any, it made sense to me it would speed your heart up. At least I know Im not completely crazy!!! Thank you.
Nitro can increase your heart rate. It's listed in the common side effects if you look it up.
That Adenocard is a quiet a trip, huh?!
