I'm sorry for such a late response. You probably already received an answer, but anyway - I have been taking this drug for about nine years now. I take it for atrial fibrillation. I was on 300 mg 3 x per day for a number of years. Then I cut back to 300 mg 2x per day for a few months, then after my ablation I went on 150mg 2x per day (this was back in February). This is the only drug that has worked to control my a-fib. I like it, but in high doses, I had lots of side effects like constipation, urinary retention, low blood pressure, low blood sugar and sinus tachycardia. The lower dose has worked pretty well and I do not have as many side effects. I have heard that it controls PVC's very well in some people. I think the reason it works for me is because it controls vagally-mediated a-fib. In people with PVC's, it might be good for people who experience them after eating or before sleep, since those functions tend to stimulate the vagus nerve.
Did you end up trying it? How did it work for you? I think your doctor will probably monitor you with an ekg while you are on it, just to make sure it does not prolong your q-t interval. It never did in me, even when I was on a pretty high dose.
Oh, by the way, I am female, 30 years old, normal height and weight with a structurally-normal heart and no heart disease. Let me know how things worked out for you!
