Prescription Drug's

Recently diagnosed with irregular heartbeat.  (no previous heart problems)  Doctor prescribed Digoxin 1.25 MCG per day, and Plavix , to be taken in addition to 81 MG aspirin, (which I have been taking daily for years).

My question:  Is it safe and is it necessary to take Plavix with aspirin?

Thanks for your reply.  I believe the Doctor did mention Atrial Fibrillation as a
Electrocardiogram was done in the office and I was asked if I have ever experienced
Paltipitations, and I have (just didn't realize what they were)  I am not trying to
out guess the Doctor, just don't want to do the wrong thing for myself.
Thanks again your imput.

Did the doctor mention Atrial Fibrillation?  If not, I'm not sure why the Plavix was prescribed. The aspirin is the fist level/state of protection against clots.  If the patient has a number of risk factors, you have at least two: age and irregular heartbeat, an anticoagulant is often prescribed.  I think Plavix may be easier to manage that is an anticoagulant (Coumadin).
