I too am studying to be a Paramedic in the UK!
I gather from my own studies that.......
R on T can lead to VF in certain circumstances. Of course the 'T' wave symbolises repolarisation of the conductive cells. If an 'R' wave lands on top of a 'T' wave, normally the cell is not ready to receive the next 'message' to contract and so nothing will happen. For a tiny split second though (The upward curve of the 'T' wave) the cells' are vulnerable, repolarisation can be interrupted before they are ready and thus chaos begins!
This is my understanding of what happens in R on T, but have a read of the book '12 Lead ECG - The Art of Interpretation' which may give you an understanding in your own words!
Just out of interest, where are you studying?
Not an expert, but doing a quick browse on the web I find some interesting information at: http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=563
This input will also check if I can "hyperlink" within a post on the forum/community.
