I assume its not a disease, just more of a benign occurrence. During sex I often experience skipped/premature beats back to back (bigeminy) also standimg from sitting also triggers them for me. My blood pressure is usually normal (119/70) I've had echo cardiogram, EKG, blood tests, 3 day monitor, chest/heart xray and still nothing was found to be wrong with my heart. I experienced atrial fibrillation 7 months ago due to binge drinking my body didn't react well I never drank before that, I'm 24 years old.
I have seriously had this before. I remember getting out of bed one evening and I felt my heart rate really increase and it was beating pretty fast and I had experience 4 skipped heart beats in a row. I was freaked out completely. Is this a bad disease at hand here?
I have a feeling that your bigeminy/PVC's from standing are triggered by your autonomic nervous system. When you stand under certain circumstances your blood pressure can have a dramatic, though temporary drop which can easily trigger PVC's. Your autonomic nervous system is actually trying to trigger a simple increase in heart rate to increase blood pressure to normal levels, but in those of us who have rogue pacer cells, this message can lead to uneven firing i.e. ectopic beats.
Since this has been happening a lot to you lately it makes me wonder about a couple of things. One, is it very warm where you are? Are you rising from a LONG spell of sitting? Have you been drinking plenty of fluids? Have the fluids you've been drinking been full of caffeine?
Warm weather lowers blood pressure by dilating the blood vessels, sitting for a very long time causes blood to pool in the legs...upon standing your core blood volume drops suddenly into your legs lowering your BP. Drinking a lot of caffeine, or not drinking enough water lowers blood volume and decreases blood pressure as well. All of these things can lead to the symptoms you describe above. Perhaps a simple change in your routine could help alleviate some of your worst symptoms.
Take care,
I have definitely experienced this. I was diagnosed with heart palpitations.. Not necessarily skipped beats but it is more like two rapid beats almost at the same time which makes it feel like skipped beats. Usually its nothing to worry about... but if you get dizziness or faintness / weakness you may want to contact a cardiologist?
