Hi, I'm a 20 year old female (almost 21) And was recently diagnosed with tachycardia and supra ventricular ectopic beats. I ended up in the emerg last spring because I was sick with something and dehydrated. While I was there, my heart rate was 160, this alerted my Doctor when I went to see her for a follow up. I told her at that time I felt I have had a rapid heart rate for some time now. Along with 10 pound weight loss (not even trying) and extreme fatigue, and some dizziness. I wore a holter monitor and they diagnosed me with the things mentioned above. Since then she sent me to an endocrinologist because of these symptoms and that I have nodules (very small) on my thyroid thinking this could be it, but no, every blood test has been normal. The endocrinologist strongly suggest I see a Cardiologist because I have a heart murmer, that has been checked out, 4-5 years ago but normal, and the tachycardia. Plus my symptoms have worsened, dizzy spells a lot more often, losing balance, shortness of breath just walking up stairs, tachycardia episodes lasting much longer and more frequent, hair loss, extreme fatigue, and a heart beat I can feel in my chest pounding hard. The endocrinologist said this COULD be because of my birth control pill I'm on, Yasmin, so I have been switched to Trycyclen-Lo. My doctor was ready to refer me to a cardiologist when I reminded her I needed my pill switched and she said "oh that's true, we'll just switch your pill and see how you feel" I'm very disappointed I have to wait and see.. this has been going on for at least a year now and I'm tired of it. Should I be seen by a cardiologist sooner or wait to see how I feel on the new pill? I'm on my third day of the new pill and thought I was feeling better yesterday but today my hearts been racing again and I've been dizzy still. I'm just frustrated of feeling sick like this and highly doubt the new pill will change anything. Should I request the referral, see her again, or wait? I'm scared of having more episodes. By the way, my heart is usually around 100bpm normally, then with little movement-walking up stairs, etc, can reach up to 150 if I'm really bad and at least 70-80 at rest (just waking up) Thank you so much for your time.
