Palpatations while walking

Hi everyone.  I've been experiencing palpatations and ocassional tachycardia for several years.  I've gotten pretty used to them and I've never had any episodes while exercising, until today.  I've been walking for 2.5 miles each morning now for about 3 weeks and about 10 mnutes into my walk today I experienced a really hard palpatation, like a thud.  I got dizzy and had an electric shock type feeling in my hands (don't know how else to describe it).  I tried to soldier on but but the palps continued,  not hard thumps but more like a series of flutters.  I decided to come home.  Has anyone experienced this before?  I really need the exercise and plan to get back out tomorrow but this scared me a little.

Thank you all for your posts.  I had a cardiac work-up a little more than a year ago w/ stress echo and event monitor.  I have missed and extra beats and occasional tachy but otherwise a structurally sound heart.  The doctor said it's okay to exercise.  I think I'll just chalk this up to a "bad" day and keep at the exercise program.  Truth be told, I was a regular at the gym until last year's palpatations shook me up, now it's time to get back on track and that's why I took up walking to start back slowly.  Hopefully, someday we can all be free of these blasted things.

I actually had pvc's throughout an entire stress test once at the doctors and he said everything was normal and they won't hurt me.  Some were hard like the type you describe.  I know that "shock feeling" very well.   Sometimes it is helpful to call the doctor with any changes.  They can throw a holter on you for 24 hours and if it happens while walking (which hopefully it will) then they can reassure you.

Although I have very frequent palpitations/flutters, they only bother me when I exercise or get my heart rate up past a certain point.  It's like a lump goes into my throat and I feel like I'm going to pass out.  This is a classic symptom of SVT.  I have the go ahead to exercise because there is nothing structurally wrong with my heart (get that checked out first).  The passing out part is the main concern because you want to be sure you are in a safe place.  When the palpitations get bad, I can't run outside so I take my workouts to the gym.

Yes I have experienced it.  It scares the **** out of me and I usually end up going home.  I have a call into my cardio now because I am not sure if it is okay to continue to exercise when something like that happens.  It happened to me on T-giving day and I still haven't heard from a nurse or anyone.  I just am not sure if it is okay to go back to exercising or not.   I'll let you know if I ever hear anything back from them.
