VTach

I called my EP and asked them if I did or did not have a 3 beat run last May since it said possible. They said it looked like I did. They could not be sure of the second beat due to artifact or something, therefore can not guarantee I did, but it looked like I did. My heart structure is fine other than mild mvp. Does anyone know how they decide to treat it or not and can someone have that and it not progress to worse things?

Thank you for answering. I looked at my report and it says exactly

"one possible 3 beat run of multifocal ventricular tachycardia, rate of 139 bpm"

When I called and asked them what does "possible" mean, they said, "the tech and the cardioloigst that read it felt it looked like it was a 3 beat run, but that the second beat was not super clear due to articfact, but it most likely was that, but we dont worry unless its a 5 beat run"
Thank you all for the information.

Im getting ready to leave but saw your question.

I'm not 100% but from what I've been told/read/researched I think you're mixing up some info and terms.  Unifocal or Multifocal usually is associated with pvc's, monomorphic or polymorphic is with VT. I haven't seen multifocal VT before only monomorphic.

You may want to get a copy of your test results from then and see exactly what it says so you know what you're dealing with.  Either way, pvc's and VT CAN point to something but doesn't always - again it depends on alot of variables in a specific case.

read some of the links I posted and if you have any other questions you may want to ask in the expert forum and make sure it's accurate =)

Thank you. The office told me today they think it was a 3 beat run and it is multifocal. Are all multifocal VT dangerous?

VT can or can't be a problem - lots of variables come into play all depending on your specific case.

Here's an answer from one of the medhelp dr's about vt  - http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Heart-Disease/Idiopathic-Ventricular-Tachycardia-Ablation/show/1327314

here's some info I have on VT - http://www.medhelp.org/user_journals/show/228899/VTACH---VT-?personal_page_id=861727

if you didn't have multi focal pvc's/vt then he probably didn't say anything not to scare you =) since you probably have nothing to worry about.  keep a journal and see if  your symptoms stay the same or worsen

Sorry, I thought I had answered this but looking back I don't think I was ever specific.  It is absolutely possible to have 3 beats in a row and it mean nothing.  This does NOT mean your heart will progress to other things.  I would not treat an episode of a three beat run several months ago, that has never recurred and has no structural heart damage to go along with it.  Many people hear have this sort of thing daily.
