heart beating crazy

I listened to my heartbeat with a stethoscope. What I heard was like beep beep..beep beep..beep beep..beep beep..beep beep.. then it slows down to a beat..beat..beat..beat..beat.. then that 1 beat & the 2 beats combine together, then that one beat fades away,, and it happens all over again. also here pauses and some odd reactions from PVC's I guess. When I am not having symptoms, my heart beats regularly with the beep beep..beep beep.. and I know that is how it is supposed to be. Why am I hearing 2 different heart beats combine together? Would the slower heartbeat I hear (the 1 beat) be PVC's occuring continuously? I also here loud sounds,, it sounds like a door closing, is that normal?

I had an EKG and a continous run of PVC's. Wore a holter monitor as well but I haven't received my results.

My heart pounds, chest gets tight and hurts, left side mostly, short of breath, rapid heart beat sometimes, twitch from the pounding, tingle from it. It's been hurting inside my neck, almost feels like it's going to cut my breath off, pounding so hard today that the back of my neck was in horrible pain, pain medications didn't touch that pain, took some medication to sleep tonight and it made it quit hurting. Have pain going into my back and jaw, head has been hurting, have had nights of very little sleep.

Had a normal echo stress test last year. If my heart is normal, why would the pounding and pvc's cause me all these symptoms? Are there any medications that can help resolve it?

How worrysome are runs of PVC's? I had bigeminal rhythms on the way to the hospital last year. Most of the time they are single PVC's.. but I've had some that aren't so good. Too many, too fast, last EKG, they were continuous all the way across the age. So... I can't say I am all that scared of PVC's but I am sick of the symptoms they cause.

I do have a very high heart disease risk but I am very doubtful I have it yet.. Still want to know what these arrythmias are.

Well last time I listened to it,, I heard the 2 beat rhythm,, followed by a different 2 beat rhythm meaning a different pattern I guess or different pace ??? then those beats combined with my other beats, it will end up quitting and all this starts all over again. I do hear the PVC where it sounds like a pause.. I know there is a lub dub sound that sounds like 2 beats but is actually just one.. The confusion is why I'm having 2 different rhythms combine together like that.. I would just be happy to here it's not some type of arrythmia..

The problems randomly occur, usually without reason. I could walk through the house, carry groceries in, put some laundry in the dryer, and it'll happen.. Sometimes it just gets crazy when I lay down.. This isn't a daily issue.. At the moment, I am feeling better. This last occurance was definetly brought on by stress.

I am not on medication for this. I have had no tests other than a stress test and holter monitor which I had done a week and half ago so why I haven't received the results ???? it's beyond me.. I am on a few medications for other issues.. Plaquenil for rheumatoid disease,, Neurontin for the burning, tingling, and to help me sleep,, plus I take toradol ocassionally for my neck/jaw pain and headaches.

It's been awhile since I had the bigeminal rhythms, it was on my way to the hospital over my neck pain. 911 told me if I have a history of PVC's, that it would likely not be anything to worry about. They told the hospital staff, like 4 of them, but they did not do anything with this. Did not put a monitor on me to keep check on it, nothing. My last EKG, the PVC's were continous, if I were to guess, I would say about 15 was on the results. I know there were alot of them. I've had too many PVC's (too fast) in the past, clinic sends me to the ER in the fear I might have a heart attack, they have me follow up with my GP. He says it's probably nothing to worry about. This last EKG, his PA is concerned of it,, said he might send me to a cardiologist pending my holter monitor results. He did a bunch of blood work as well.

I just don't understand why the PVC's are being considered a potential problem now and wasn't before. If my blood work comes back normal and that holter monitor just shows PVC's and no other arrythmia, even if in runs, I am not going to a cardiologist. I do not feel the need to worry over something that may be harmless.

All my grandparents had heart disease & high cholesterol. My mom & brother have high blood pressure, both of them have the risk of a heart attack, and they both have severe sleep apnea. I smoke 2 pks a day, inactive due to chronic fatigue, don't exercise, cholesterol has been out of wack for 20 yrs, but they never gave me medication for it, just recently started eating healthy. Well I am sure I'll end up with heart & lung disease when I am older. But only when. I have no valid reason to think something is wrong now.. And my blood pressure is fine most of the time. I am not going to worry about it if no other arrythmia is present,, and no I have not been told I had VTach.

Thank you for the replies.

*I apologize for the multiple errors, both grammatical and spelling wise. My computer kept freezing up which made editing a bit of a problem. If you need me to clarify on any point, please feel free to ask.

Sorry, I got cut off.

The next theory, which is more likely given your extensive history of PVCs. When you hear a PVC on the stethescope, it is actually a premature or early beat, but may feel like a skipped beat or something of the sort. If you were to hear it, it would sound like an early beat, followed by a thud, and next a short pause, which may be why you feel it is slowing down a bit. During this pause, or slowing, the heart is rebooting itself so to speak in an attempt to regulate the rate and generate a normal functioning heart beat.

There are many reasons why a PVC could become symptomatic. One is that since the PVC is an early beat, the heart does not have time to properly fill with blood, and you lose whats called your atrial kick (responsible for 30 percent of your cardiac output). If you are having multiple rounds of PVCs, your body is alerting you that you are not getting the amount of blood that it wants. The heart also has to get blood, from itself I guess you would say. But when your coronary arteries do not get adequate blood flow, this could cause chest pain.

Many symptoms that you state are worrisome to me. The jaw pain, chest pain, tingling and many other sympoms are something that you need to alert to your physician right away when it starts to happen.

You say the medications are not helping you, what have they prescribed? Have they given you nitro? I ask because you say the pain medications are not helping. I am just curious what type of pain med a MD would prescribe for chest pain.

Have they scanned your arteries in your heart to check for blockage? Do your symptoms occur while you are exercising, are they random, or do they occur at rest? There are three different types of angina, I am just trying to see the big picture here.

PVCs can be a random occurance, and can happen to us all. However you are clearly having major issues with this. bigeminal PVCs and runs would be concerning to me, but I assume you are under the care of a physician who will hopefully shed some light on your situation. If you are having runs with many many PVCs, have they told you that you have runs of Vtach?

Keep yourself well rested and be sure to contact your doctor if those sympoms occur. I would ask your doctor to list for you symptoms that would require you to go to the hospital, just so that you will be prepared should those symptoms arise.

The heart usually beats like this "lub dub, lub dub, lub dub" Of course I cant hear your rhythm so this will be a complete guess on my part.

Here is some quick physiology, the lub dub is the sound of two different sets of valves closing, representing the artia (or top of the heart) and the ventricle (bottom part) empying blood into their relative parts (artia pumps blood to the ventricles, which pumps blood to the body, there is also some pumps to the lungs and back but I wont get into that)

Ok so now you know why their is two seemingly simutaneous beats, the heart must empty blood from the artia, to the ventricle and to the body. Sometimes if the atria do not get a "signal" the ventricles can beat independently and you would not hear the first "lub" of the beat. A ventricular beat would simply be the " dub..dub...dub" and it would be spaced out and slower because the ventricular pace maker is slower (15-40 bpm)
