heart rhythm

i have been told i need zapping to get my heart into correct rhythm does this really work ? will i be able once again be able to do all the things i used to do with out difficulty .

I may have said it wrong..... The electo conversion DID work I'v e been going stong for the last 3 days ... The doctor just said he wants to talk to me about an Ablation in the future.

Thank you for your responses, i was told it was arterilal fibrillation and it would be an electric shock to get the heart back into rhythm if it did not work then it would be down to medication..I see it did not work for you Ma63. i hope you are now back to normal.

Do you know what type of arrhythmia you have? Some arrhythmias like atrial fibrillation can be managed with medications for awhile or a person may have to go in to be cardioverted (get the rhythm back to normal).

If you were experiencing ventricular tachycardia, you would probably notice it since you would probably pass out. In that case they would want to put an ICD in to electrically convert when it happens again.

What do you mean, zapping?   Electro  cardoconversion   or ablation?
I just had my heart shocked back into rhythm but the doctor still wants to do the Ablation also
