Thanks for the references. Hard to tell if Metacavir was ever considered for HIV even though it belongs to the same class of drugs used to treat HIV. It is just that a Chinese drug company is do clinical trials with Metacavir for HBV. There are no published results of the trials, as far as I can tell, but there are rumours that it may soon be approved by the China's sFDA. Will keep you posted.

that drug is really rubbish it doesn t make nothing to hbv while making damage, it is too bad most people have no kowledge about the fact that a drug no active on hbsag or hbcag or other antigen is useless.targetting dna is useful only to full drug makers pokets but it doesn t cure anybody

it was studied for hiv but then they are trying to pass that to hbv but if it doens t eradicate hbsag i think it has no market

I google metacavir but I can only find references to it being tested for mitochondrial toxicity. Can you tell me where I can find information about it being a failed HIV drug candidate?

it is a failed hiv drug, this is the clear strategy drug makers had at 2000, use of failed hiv drug on hbv to make mutants (instead using tenofovir which makes no mutants) and then find always new drugs with patent and high price for the mutants......

it is a drug active on lam muatnts with low toxicity but also low potency and possible making new mutants, i see no reason to approve it or use it since we have tenofovir from 2000 that makes no mutants there is absolutely no need to approve such a drug.there are many drugs and targets to develop they should approve only those drugs

in terms of clearing the virus an absolutely uselss drug, also very strange they are producing that in asia instead US, probably something to hide...
rep9AC and myracludexB, both can clear virus and are a cure for hbv, those are the drugs to approve and market not failed and useless nucs
