Hep B positive but normal liver functions

During a periodic medical check up, doctor said I am Hep B +ve but has no sympton. I was given Lamuviden to use . I have just used it for 4 days now and really want to discontinue it.  I want my natural immunity to fight it. Is this wise?

regular fibroscan monitoring every 6 months together with US, here in italy both machines are usually together because they make checkups to the liver together

Which African country has this facility?
i am sorry i have no idea, probably the richest countries but every liver doctor can have it, here you find it both at liver specialist small clinic and hostpital

You said LFT may not reveal liver damage until end stage Cirrhosis, why then is it the first and most popular recommendation everywhere, including here? It's getting scary pls.

Also, from your earlier advice here months ago, I have been looking for where to do Fibroscan in Nigeria, but was told it doesn't exist in Nigeria yet. Which African country has this facility?

I'm afraid: HBV DNA has been 3500 IU/ml(May 2010), 2500 IU/ml (Nov 2010) and latest 992 IU/ml(June 2011). ALT has been 22 in the last 3 months, yet I'm having persistent mild pains in my liver region for over a year now.

yes it is the best choice, tenofovir is the most potent on hbv and has no resistance

follow instructions and check:
creatinine on the first month of use
hbvdna pcr after 3 or 6 months

this drug wont clear hbv, in the fututre you may combo withinterferon and nitazoxanide to increase chances to eradicate hbv, also follow the community for news on therapies and results

be also aware that blood tests about liver function are normal until end stage cirrhosis, this is because those tests have extremely poor sensibility about liver function and that's not due to liver being ok

the future is a breath test which can also detect when death happens due to uncompensated cirrhosis, but this is still at research level

fibroscan remains the best test for cirrhosis/liver damage at the moment

stop it immediately, lamivudine is out of guidelines for hbv from many years, change also the doctor right away.lamivudine is too weak and makes virus mutations that cannot be treated

lam makes all kind of virus mutations while totally infeffective on infection

check here all needed to know if you need a treatment because the virus itself makes no damage to the liver, it is oxidative stress and your immune system to make the damage
