I have to disagree. Robert Kruse is a PhD candidate and he offers a lot of interesting scientific ideas and information. As you know, RNAi can silence multiple HBV genes by choosing the right siRNA as some of the HBV genes overlap each other. Currently the focus is on knock down of the S-antigen only, but in reality, knock down of E antigen, Core antigen and the X protein may lead to surprising results. I think the coming Arrowhead AD on 24 Sept may have some new discovery relating to the knock down of these proteins (my guess), as well as discovery relation to the efficacy of RNAi in general.
RNAi is a powerful tool to study the roles of all the HBV proteins, the X and C proteins are known to interact with cccDNA. So I wish technology of RNAi can be made available to researchers so that they can identify more targets against HBV replication, especially the cccDNA.
He just sent us to wait all the way to TKMR or ARBUS who are just starting their clinica trials.
He is trying to down grade coming ARWR analyst data sept. 24 as nothing miracle is going to happen but hope they'll come up with some thing wow!
